LARGE CAP

These mutual funds pick equity securities from the Indian markets ' largest 100 stocks (highest market capitalization). Larger stocks are supposed to be less volatile, whereas smaller stocks may be more likely to grow.

These mutual funds select investment stocks from the Indian markets ' largest 250 stocks (highest market capitalization). Larger stocks are supposed to be less volatile, whereas smaller stocks may be more likely to grow.
MID CAP

These mutual funds select investment stocks from the mid-cap category – stocks ranging from 100 to 250 per size (market capitalization). Larger stocks are expected to be less risky, while smaller stocks may have higher growth potential.
SMALL CAP

Such mutual funds pick investment stocks from the class of small caps, which comprises all stocks except for the largest 250 stocks (by market capitalization).

MULTI CAP

Such mutual funds invest mainly in selected stocks on the Indian market (NSE / BSE) from all listed shares.
DIVIDEND YIELD

These mutual funds invest in stocks and follow an investment strategy that generates higher dividend yields in stocks.
VALUE

These mutual funds invest in undervalued stocks. The underlying assumption is that stocks can be undervalued due to temporary factors and will yield higher returns than peers once valuation is equal.

CONTRA

As contrast to the prevailing sentiment, these mutual funds invest in stocks and pursue a policy of buying and selling. The underlying assumption is that shareholders ' group behavior always makes the maket at times very costly or very cheap.
FOCUSSED

Such mutual funds invest in stocks, but limit to a total of 30 the number of stocks in the portfolio.
SECTORAL AND THEMATIC

These mutual funds invest in stocks that are selected from a single sector or that fit into a particular theme.

ELSS

Most of these mutual funds keep the portfolio in stocks. However, from the date of purchase you can't sell these units for 3 years. By showing investment as a deduction below 80c you can save taxes.
